VW T1, T2, Beetle, KG | Shifter shaft seal in transmission nose | 001 301 227, 113 301 225
This seal prevents oil from leaking out of the gearbox along the shift shaft towards the engine, and as you know: oil on your engine block is not really what you want. The ring is located precisely in the nose of the gearbox where the shift shaft exits, and after fifty years, such a rubber simply starts to wear out. Replace it now and save yourself trouble later with oil stains and rust formation. It is recommended to combine this with a new oil plug and other seals from the shifting mechanism for a thorough overhaul.
