This seal is located on the pitman arm and prevents grease from leaking out of the steering shaft. If the seal is worn, grease will leak out and your steering column will slowly dry out, causing play and wear. VW part number 211 415 273A fits T2a and T2b models. Combine this with a new pitman arm if you're already working on it.
