This vertical rubber seal between the engine and firewall (OEM 111 813 741G) prevents vibrations and heat from entering the cabin. After decades, the rubber hardens and becomes porous, leading to more engine noise in the cabin and loss of insulation. This part fits all years of T1, T2a, T2b, Beetle, and Type 181. Combine this with the horizontal version, and you'll have the complete engine-firewall insulation neatly restored.
