This rubber seal fits around the inspection cover under your Type 3, where dirt and water would otherwise simply enter. The original (311 705 257A) usually hardens and cracks after thirty years, causing it to no longer seal properly. With this replacement, your cover will be properly sealed again, and the chassis underneath will remain clean and dry. Combine this with a new inspection cover if yours is damaged or deformed.
