This rubber stop ensures that your clutch pedal doesn't go all the way to the floor and prevents damage to the mechanism. Over years of use - the rubber wears down and becomes hard or damaged - resulting in a hard impact against the steering column. Replacement is simple and inexpensive - so check your part. Combine this with a new clutch pedal if you are disassembling it anyway.
