The engine lid hinges of your T2b ensure that the heavy engine lid opens and closes smoothly without pinching your fingers. This pair of original hinges (OEM 211 829 553) wear out after years in the sun and then start to squeak or hang crooked. Replacing them is a matter of two bolts per hinge - so it's a perfectly manageable maintenance job. Combine this with new lid cable and retaining screws for a completely functional engine lid.
