The lower ball joint (701 407 361B) allows movement between your steering arms and wheel carrier. This part naturally wears out over the years - especially with frequent driving on bumpy roads. A faulty ball joint is indicated by poor handling and play in the steering. This is a universal model that fits many air-cooled VWs - so please check your OEM number. Combine this with the upper ball joint and your suspension system will be perfect.
