This lock nut is used in numerous places on your Beetle, Bus, or Karmann Ghia where you don't want anything to come loose while driving. M10 x 1.25 with the plastic locking ring inside (DIN 985) keeps everything in place, from engine to chassis. Replace them preventively during major maintenance, because once tightened, it's better not to reuse them. Combine this with new lock nuts for a complete overhaul of your fasteners.
