This release knob is located on the side of your seat and determines whether your front seat can fold forwards or backwards. The original design (OEM 113 881 633C/D) is simple yet effective: a sturdy plastic knob with metal attachment. For the Beetle - T2 - and Karmann Ghia - both front seats use the same knob - so check whether you need one or two. Combine this with a complete seat hinge kit if you're working on your seats anyway.
