VW T1, T2, Beetle, KG | Pulley backing plate (black) | 113 119 533
The pulley backing plate (OEM 113 119 533) is located between the crankshaft end plate and the pulley and mainly serves as a protective plate against sand and dirt. This black tinware plate is standard on the T1, T2a, T2b, Karmann Ghia, and Type 181 and can fray or tear due to corrosion and wear. Replacement is quickest in combination with a new pulley and crankshaft end plate for a complete front-end engine overhaul.
