This gasket sits between your intake manifold and cylinder head and ensures that your mixture does not leak out along the sides. On a 40hp single port engine - OEM 311 129 707 is specified here - and it is one of those parts that you should replace immediately when you have the manifold off. Combine this with a new gasket under the carburetor flange for a completely sealed system.
