This half-moon (Woodruff key) sits between the pulley and the shaft of your alternator or dynamo - ensuring that one part does not spin on the other. In many old VWs - this key is worn or missing - resulting in a flashing pulley or no charging current. The original part number N 012 705 1 is still available and is a cheap insurance against headaches. Combine this with a new pulley or complete alternator for a solid charging system.
