This external voltage regulator (OEM 043 903 803A) ensures that your alternator provides the correct charging voltage to your battery and electrical system. On T2 and Karmann Ghia models, this regulator is mounted outside the alternator, making replacement much easier than internal variants. Regularly check your charging voltage with a multimeter, as a failing regulator will leave you with a dead battery. Combine this with a new alternator pulley for optimal performance.
