This sump plate gasket (OEM 113 198 031 or 113 115 189 - depending on your model) sits between the sump and the engine block - ensuring your oil stays where it should. During maintenance or a sump overhaul - this is the time to install a fresh one - because the old one is definitely no longer usable after removal. Combine this with a new sump plug and you're all set.
