The inner valve spring in your cylinder head plays a crucial... wait - let's be honest: this is just a part that does its job for years until it's worn out. In 25hp and 30hp engines - you regularly see these springs (OEM 111 109 623OK) replaced when you're overhauling your engine - especially if you're already working on the head. They work together with the outer spring to keep the valve neatly closed - and as soon as they lose their tension - your engine won't run as it should. For a thorough overhaul of your T1 or Karmann Ghia valve set - do this together with the outer spring and all gaskets.
