This is the original valve spring retainer for your 25 or 30hp engine - part number 111 109 641. It sits under the valve cover and holds the valves in place while your engine is running. After decades - these retainers can sometimes come loose or deform - leading to rattling or poor valve spring action. Combine this with a new valve cover gasket and you're all set.
