The fuel pump push rod is located between the camshaft and the pump diaphragms, ensuring that fuel is pushed up to the carburetor. This 108 mm long rod (OEM 113 127 307) can wear out or sometimes break due to contamination in the pump or wear on the cam. Replacement is easy via the side of the engine block and should be part of any pump maintenance. Combine this with a new diaphragm set and gasket for a complete repair.
