This aluminum crankcase fits classic 1600cc engines with an 82mm stroke and is an excellent upgrade for those looking to lighten their air-cooled VW without sacrificing strength. The 96.0mm dimensions are suitable for T1 - T2a - T2b - Type 3 - Karmann Ghia - and Type 181 - offering a wide range of choices. Aluminum dissipates heat better than cast iron and saves a few kilograms - which is particularly noticeable when driving. Combine this with a well-maintained cylinder block - and you have a solid foundation for reliable journeys.
