This half-moon (Woodruff key) ensures that your crankshaft remains firmly connected to the pulley. If your engine vibrates or your pulley slips around the crankshaft, this key is often worn or missing. Replace it preventively if you already have the pulley off. Combine this with a new crankshaft pulley and belts to completely renew your front end.
