This closed gear sits between the crankshaft and the camshaft gear and ensures the correct gear spacing on your engine. It is a critical component for proper timing and engine operation - so check it regularly for wear and replace it preventively during an engine overhaul. This ring gear is available for all air-cooled VWs from T1 to T4 - so you can be sure you have the right part. Combine this with a new camshaft gear and crankshaft gear for a complete timing set.
