The half moon for axle shaft retention (113 517 191) ensures that the axle shaft stays in place and cannot shift in the suspension bracket. This friction plate is essential for the stability of your rear axle on T1 - Type 3 - Karmann Ghia and Type 181. After decades of wear - this is usually the first thing that needs to be replaced during a suspension overhaul. Combine this with a set of new axle shaft bushings and your suspension will feel like new again.
