This steel bracket holds your gearbox's rubber mounting in place - preventing it from moving around in the engine bay. On T2a's - these brackets frequently wear out due to the rubber being squeezed out from underneath - leading to play and vibrations. The replacement part 211 599 231 is not complicated - but essential for proper handling. Combine this with new rubber for a complete overhaul of the gearbox mounting.
