This reinforced silent block is located at the rear of your gearbox and dampens vibrations that occur during shifting. On older VWs - the original rubber mounts slowly wear out - which you notice by more play in the gearbox and a loose feeling in the gearstick. This heavy-duty version (OEM 211 301 263 / 113 301 263) lasts significantly longer and ensures tighter shifting. Combine this with the front silent block for the complete mounting kit - and you'll have a firm - direct connection again.
