This inner wheel bearing sits in your rear axle and carries the full weight of your car. When it wears out, you'll notice a soft growling sound from the rear, and eventually, the play in the wheel becomes too great. The original VW 113 501 283 is a direct replacement for Type 1 and Type 3 with IRS, so it's perfectly plug-and-play. Combine this with fresh brake fluid and check your brake hoses at the same time.
