This sealing plug is located in the drive flange on the gearbox side and prevents dirt and moisture from entering. On the Beetle and Karmann Ghia - this is an often-neglected part that really requires attention during a major service - especially if you have removed the transmission. VW part number 020 409 289B. Combine this with the O-ring and the flange bolt set for a complete job.
