This cotter pin goes through the locking hole of the brake drum nut on the rear axle and prevents the nut from coming loose. Always replace it during assembly, as once disassembled, the pin is no longer reliable. OEM number N 12 548 1. Combine this with a new brake drum nut for a complete service.
