VW T1 Bus - Beetle - KG | Rear wheel bearing bus | 50-07/63 -Type 3 -Type 181 | 111 501 281A
This rubber bushing is located behind the rear wheel bearing and dampens vibrations in the rear axle. It gradually wears out - causing play in the axle shaft - which you will feel as a soft thud or rattle when driving. Replacing it is a simple job and should ideally be done during any major rear axle rebuild. Combine this part with a new rear wheel bearing and new oil for a thorough overhaul.
