VW T1, Beetle, KG | Rear axle shaft bushing | 111 501 281A
This rubber bushing is located behind the rear wheel bearing and dampens vibrations in the rear axle. It gradually wears out, causing play in the axle shaft, which you will feel as a soft thud or rattle when driving. Replacing it is a simple job and should ideally be done during any major rear axle rebuild. Combine this part with a new rear wheel bearing and new oil for a thorough overhaul.
