This seal keeps grease in your T2's front wheel bearing and prevents dirt and water from entering. The original VW seal (211 405 641D) becomes hard and porous over time, especially if your van is regularly stored outdoors. A new seal is inexpensive insurance against rusty bearings and a damaged wheel suspension. Combine this with a complete wheel bearing set or fresh bearing grease for a truly thorough service.
