This rubber boot (111 415 835A) fits over the ball joint of your steering rod and keeps out dirt and moisture. On T1s and Karmann Ghias, this boot often tears, allowing water to enter the ball joint and accelerating wear. Replacing it is not a big job and saves you a lot of trouble with a stiff-steering car. Combine this with a new ball joint itself if you are already working on it.
