This rubber boot (111 415 835A) fits over the ball joint of your steering rod and keeps out dirt and moisture. On T1s and Karmann Ghias - this boot often tears - allowing water to enter the ball joint and accelerating wear. Replacing it is not a big job and saves you a lot of trouble with a stiff-steering car. Combine this with a new ball joint itself if you are already working on it.
