This ball joint with a large cone and right-hand thread (311 415 812C) is located in the front track rod connection and enables the angular movement of your steering system. It's a cast OEM part that experiences wear and tear due to constant movement and vibrations - so replacement is necessary as soon as you feel play in your steering. This part fits T2a - T2b - Type 3 - Karmann Ghia - and Type 181. Combine this with a new track rod and lock nut for a complete steering system restoration.
