The rubber stop at the top of your shock absorber (OEM 113 412 303A) prevents the suspension from hitting the housing and simultaneously dampens vibrations. Over time - this rubber becomes hard and brittle - leading to a harsher ride and more noise from the wheel wells. This is one of those parts that you should replace preventively - especially if you drive your Beetle regularly. We recommend combining this with a complete shock absorber refresh for both front and rear.
