This rubber buffer ensures that your brake pressure switch doesn't directly hit the metal mounting bracket, thereby protecting its contact points from premature wear. The part sits between the switch and the bracket, absorbing the shocks that occur when you press the brake. This is a suitable replacement part for T1, T2, Type 3, Karmann Ghia, and Type 181. Combine this with a new brake pressure switch itself for a complete overhaul of your brake light system.
