This master cylinder rubber boot provides a watertight seal around the piston rod. If you notice brake fluid leaking past the cylinder or your brake pedal slowly sinking - this seal is usually to blame. Replacement part 211 611 817A is relatively inexpensive and quick to replace - so there's no excuse to postpone it. Combine this with a brake fluid change so you know your brake system is fully in order again.
