This rubber seal in your rear panel (OEM N 020 022 3) ensures that the body seals properly and prevents dirt and moisture from creeping into the corners. After decades - the rubber shrinks and becomes brittle - so replacement is not a luxury but a necessity. This is the correct original profile rubber for T1 - T2 - T3 - Beetle - Karmann Ghia - Type 181 and Type 4. Combine this with the other rear panel seals for a completely neat finish.
