The rubber heating cable (OEM 113 711 691) ensures that your carburetor and fuel line do not freeze in winter. This is not a luxury but a pure necessity if you want to drive your Beetle - Type 3 - Karmann Ghia or Type 181 all year round. The cable is wrapped around the carburetor and connected to the battery - so that heat keeps the fuel supply flowing. Combine this with a new thermostat and your winter drives will be much more reliable.
