These rubber buffers prevent the front axle from pressing directly against the chassis and dampen vibrations. For Type 3s, they are critical for maintaining smooth driving dynamics, especially if you drive a lot on unpaved roads. VW dimensioned them well with OEM number 311 899 117, so original remains the best choice here. Combine this with the upper buffers and you have a complete new set of elastic shock absorbers.
