This turn signal switch (OEM 231 953 517 3) is located in the steering column and controls your indicators and likely also the wipers. In a T1 - this is a reliable switch - but after decades - the contacts can wear out or sometimes get stuck. Replacement is quick and makes your turn signals responsive again. Combine this with a new contact set while you're at it - so your ignition contact is really firm.
