This small 12V 4W bulb (OEM N 017 717 2) sits behind your instrument panel and provides illumination for your gauges. It's one of those parts you don't see every day but definitely miss when it's out. They come in pairs, so you need two per car. Combine this with a new bulb holder if you're already working on it.
