This rubber foot switch sits under your dashboard and controls the high beams. After fifty years - the rubber becomes brittle and tears apart - causing the switch to become loose or not function properly. This is a direct replacement for T1 and Karmann Ghia. Combine this with a new switch itself if it already shows wear.
