This taillight housing holder is held in place by a vibration-damping rubber mounting element. If your taillight is loose or wobbles, this holder is likely worn or cracked. VW part no. 111 945 291 is the replacement part for the left side of your T1. Combine this with the right side (111 945 292) and fresh rubber mounting material for a complete restoration.
