This door strike plate is located at the bottom of the door frame and catches the lock striker when you close the door. Without this part, your door will not close properly or may open while driving, so this is not an unnecessary luxury. The original part number is 211 837 295B and it fits the front left. Combine this with the corresponding right strike plate and a new door handle for a complete upgrade.
