This right-hand door lock mechanism is found in almost every T1 and ensures your door remains reliably closed while driving. The original part number 211 837 016F is difficult to source because VW rarely supplied these parts separately - so a well-functioning one is valuable. Check that the hinge mechanism still moves smoothly and the spring still has tension before installing a new one. Combine this with a new door frame gasket to ensure your door closes truly watertight.
