The accelerator pedal lever is the connection between your accelerator pedal and the carburettor, so when it wears or breaks, you'll immediately feel it in your footwork. For T1, Type 3, Karmann Ghia and Type 181, we supply the replacement part with numbers 311 721 509A or 113 798 901D, depending on your model. A worn lever can feel rough or even get stuck, which is why replacement is really necessary if you notice that the accelerator pedal doesn't spring back smoothly.
